"The present research sought to investigate whether fluency in ASL could potentially lessen the gender gap in mathematics. To investigate this, math, English, and mental rotation tasks were administered to 28 females (14 signers and 14 non-signers) to determine if there were significant differences on mathematic achievement." -- Abstract.
